Why would this be connected to the setting anyhow?
The tool bar menus should always have icons in them as it looks to
anyone I asked about it that their missing and this is a bug.

I am experiencing too this strange bug after upgrading to 9.10: some
icons are missing using human icon collection.
1) all icons in system menu
2) some icons in places menu (connect to server, search for files, recent
documents)
3) icons of firefox addon noscript menu (this is probably a
Yes, the icons show up when you enable a setting in the Appearance
panel, but I think this is still a bug.
I don't want the icons in all gnome menus, I want them as basically as
in the main menu, and by the way it works for most of them already.
So I agree with the bug-reporter, it's a bug to me
It's possible to have the 8 missing icons by modifying System -

But then, icons apears in ALL menus (nautilus, file roller, evince etc
... ). So it's not a solution.

Doesn't make sense that it would be disabled, but at least it's fixable
for someone that's willing to get on google, find the right search
terms, look it up on launchpad and follow the instructions.

I would still say this is a bug.
It only affects 8 of of all the things in the menus and the space for the icons
are still left, so i don't even see a reason for this option, or why it i off
by default in 9.10.
