, i wouldn't propose the fix for SRU to lucid - but it
seems that if Launchpad is running Lucid it may be a requirement - but
would this be enough to solve the issue?

appreciate that is just an example, that particular issue can
be overcome with, appending:
prepend domain-name-servers $SOME_DNS_SERVER,$DNS_SERVER_2;
to: /etc/dhcp3/dhclient.conf
Then you have two DNS servers,at the top of /etc/resolv.conf
