Big scanner regression

Somehow between Gutsy and Hardy (I'm guessing with the new CUPS GUI), a regression was introduced where no HP scanners work with Hardy. These were probably the easiest scanners to get going before, and because they're attached to the very-compatible HP printers, I'm sure a *lot* of people have
