side-effect of libgda-3.0's gda_connection_get_schema() now (with
postgres 8.3) reporting many field types as being of of G_TYPE_STRING,
and Glom was just using the last one when doing a reverse lookup to get
the SQL field type

You are right, giving the end user choice is always good.
However, Truecrypt 5.1a is now available and it has all of the knobs and
whistles (and cli support) of previous versions. So as far as I am aware there
is no need to package previous versions, 5.1a does the lot.

OK, running xdg-user-dirs didn't fix it for me at first, came back with
an error ('Can't write'). Turned out that somehow ~/.config was owned by
root. chown fixed that, then running xdg-user-dirs and log-out/log-in,
and everything works now.

Text in dialog message is unclear and unhelpful. It is hard to
determine which button to choose for a) going back to the partitioner to
configure formatting (Cancel) and b) ignoring the message continuing the
installation (OK).

If you want to make a case for getting this package into hardy you need to
follow the feature freeze exception process.
Problem is, that zope-cachefu package in Ubuntu Hardy doesn't work at
all - zope-cachefu 1.1-1 package

Looking at the patch, this line may be one of the culprits causing an
issue:
KIO::copy( d-activeElement.getAttribute(src).string(), xmldirname);
If Default does not yet exist in the users private share directory, it
creates a file called default rather than copying the emote to the
Default
