issue and I could just run the installer like normal and never edit

I confirm this on Intrepid, Hardy, Gutsy, and Feisty. I've been having
a hard time searching for this problem on the Internet. I use an nvidia
7600GS with and LG LCD over the DVI port, also using TwinView with a

Maybe it is/was better to poll the hard drive on effected systen every x
seconds to prevent spinning down but still let use the ohter features of apm.
Maybe the hardware vendors/ hard driver producers should be contacted how they
deal with it under Windows.

You're right, I did got packages, including mesa now, which were not
available yesterday while troubleshooting.
After installing the packages, I could again start gnome with intel driver.
During the whole 'poor intel GPU performance'
issue I saw ~300fps for glxgears, now I got ~60fps. After
I've had the same problem.
The gnome-do preferences screen was gray. And Gnome-do would even hang on
startup.
In gconf-editor at Apps/Gnome-do I found that there was a new formatting for
settings and the old settings weren't deleted/copied well.

I found out it's something to do with the router setting of renew group
key, when it was set to 1 hr, for example, after the router renews the

Okay, I finally used my head for a while, and found a work-around for this
problem. In short,

primarily for technical podcasts (although we understand that some
people use them for music as well).

I experienced very nearly the same thing as above with my DViCO
FusionHDTV5 RT Gold tuner card. This card has the product info string
'i2c IR (FusionHDTV)', as reported by hal-device. The patch provided
below prevents hal from grabbing /dev/input/event6, and treating is an
linux-input-layer
Attached the output of dmesg.
Sometimes dmesg mention somting else, like ,limiting speed to UDMA/66'.
I didnt care if UDMA/100 or 66 is used, but it didnt use eighter. It realy
slow, it seams there is no dma at all.
The same tasks (soffice writer, firefox) are noticable faster with ms xp (not
I just installed Ubuntu 8.10 desktop as a guest on a vmware server 2.0
running on CentOS. Seems that this problem still exists, unfortunately I
won't be able to connect locally to verify that remote connection is in
fact the culprit. Any solutions for this problem?
