If you did an upgrade instead of install, then Ubiquity was not
involved. If grub did not install to the correct device on upgrade,
then it probably was not configured correctly in the first place. If
you manually installed it before, that would have masked the
configuration problem. Normally
Juergen, this appears to be an issue with network-manager, not upstart.

Thanks for responding Marc but why can't i upgrade to 10.10, I'm sure
you read below the error message that i received. Binary package
hint: update-manager
it says it could not calculate the upgrade What does that mean?

komputes, I know you filed this quite a while ago. I just tried 'telinit
1' on 10.04.2, and eventually the recovery console menu pops up on the
system console which is what I would expect.

I was trying to use PGP pg. All my email folders were wiped out and I
can no longer send or receive via Evolution. I've tried completely
removing reinstalling Evolution but the non-functional shell minus
