Just use the livecd to boot into system and in the shell , use
grub-install command to install grub into the system . That should work . if
the grub-install command complains of anything , post it here ..

Well, cracking a wifi network without the owner's permission is not a nice
thing to do . But if it is for informational purposes under a controlled
environment , you can do that with kismet and aircrack . WEP keys are fairly
easy to crack , but not the same for wpa .
