I want to admit that xv playing under compiz works fine with latest i810
driver but not with the intel driver at least on i915 platforms and it
seems that this is not the only one. Maybe we should change the status

This is the plan. The user looses the background for the session too and
I think atm a user can live without compiz for a supporting session and
it is of course only a workaround until the issue is fixed. But I don't
know. It looks like I can enable and disable compiz on the fly under
Desktop

mode I can see both modes and they are used.

I can confirm this for Feisty. This is not a Bittorrent problem. It is
general since it happens for every video file which is downloaded at the
moment and which is shown in Nautilus. I have this problem with
DownThemAll (Firefox plugin) too and the Thumbnailer uses 100% CPU and
lets my fan run
BTW I don't think that this is a Totem problem. I think Nautilus is the
app which starts gnome-video-thumnailer so it has to be fixed. Maybe
Nautilus shouldn't create Thumbnails for videos/files which are in use
(only writing, reading would be no problem).

Confirmed on Gutsy with Intel driver 2:2.0.0-1ubuntu2 (Tribe 2 Live CD). I
always got BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation) with every video
player.
If I use the i810 driver I got a flickering image which results in a black
screen but at least the video player doesn't crash directly.
This issue seems to be fixed in Gutsy (at least in Tribe 2). CPU usage
seems be normal, reaction is much more faster and scaling works fine.

linux-generic produces a high cpu usage all the time on Pentium ULV processors
This bug still exists and it is very annoying and confusing. The biggest
problem is that people who don't know this think the application isn't started
or link wasn't open. If I open a link in mail program. im or something like
that and Firefox is not running it is started and gets a focus. But

and bigger so a lot of time and battery power gets wasted and it worked

I think the greatest solution would be a network-manager plugin for
pppoe. It would fit perfectly (many gui apps ask network manager for
connection status, always in systray, couldn't interrupt things like a
sepparated console tool) and is easy to find.

DSL configuration is suboptimal.
UUID ntfs partitions are mounted fine with ntfs-3g but the tool ntfs-
config doesn't recognize them as I described above. Otherwise it
wouldn't ask for adding partitions which are listed in fstab with an
UUID. I don't have made a request for an updated Feisty version I only

I can confirm this. I have the same problem with xtightvncviewer which.
This is very annoying since I always have to reconnect with the
vncviewer and there seem to be no alternatives except something like
UltraVNC through wine. Gnome-rdp has some huge bugs and use the
xtightvncviewer too so it
