I confirm this bug on Hardy, 2.6.24-5, Toshiba U200.
I found that turning off the wifi switch solves the problem (at work I uses
wired ethernet).
BUT when the switch is off during boot, I cannot turn it on with any effect
after the boot...

I have a HP 710C on LPT1 in Gutsy stable, and the same problem has
appear. In can print on the Live CD but when it was installed, the
printer didn't work.
I try the command :

Have you tried changing the theme? I was having performance problems
with Gnometris (Gutsy version) on a slower machine and changed the block
style to plain. It's much more playable now.
In fact, it may be a good idea to make this the default.

This is a interesting suggestion Bogdan, but I'm not sure exactly how we
could achieve that. If we were to add ccache to the gcc alternatives,
it would be used whenever gcc is called.
However, how would ccache know which version of gcc it should use by
i still get the strange turned off twice behaviour, but the initial issue is
OK since ubuntu9 version of the intel driver.

I installed today Xubuntu gusty rc on my laptop from the Live CD. No pb
for the live cd, bootsplash ok.
After reboot, grub tempo and then a black screen... I thought of an install pb

It is strange that, leaving KDE, there's everytime a dark screen, then some
seconds pass (that is not normal i think), and there i get 2 possibilities :

I'm not running Gutsy at the moment. I've decided not to upgrade before
the official release, for various reasons.

When I shutdown my Toshiba laptop with the dedicated button (on the computer),
