Bugs,
I gave up on the onboard ati card and installed a nvidia one. That
didn't work either and I have since found that the problem probably is
with the x64 system. With a dedicated x64 kernel the video is fine. I
suppose that would also be the case with a fglrx driver but as the
nvidia card works
I can now solve the problem by first saving the /etcX11/xorg.conf file created
with some trouble in Heron to an USB-stick. Start Ububtu DVD in Safe graphics
mode and replace the xorg.conf file with the one from Heron.
After Ctrl-Alt-Backspace the resolution of the screen is appropriate.
--
I have tried to get Intrepid in two ways: several times with upgrade -d
from Heron and recently with the live CD. In both cases the video card
cannot be found and when I accept low resolution the system freezes.
With the upgrade I have tried to use the xorg.conf from Heron, but that
doesn't work.
