I have a similar effect on my PC with Kubuntu 7.04 release version. I
have it set to autologin, and if I select shutdown the screen goes black
until just before it switches off and the down splash appears for about
1/2 a second.
However, if I log out first and select shutdown from the login
I have the same problem on Kubuntu 7.04, Audacity 1.2.6, I have tried
deselecting and reselecting the Mixer toolbar in Edit..Preferences, and
also View..Float and View..Doc Mixer toolbar. But the Record source
selection never appears on the Mixer toolbar.

Ok thanks for educating me. I will look that up. This is my first bug
report for Ubuntu and I thought it best to leave the package selection
out rather than guess the wrong one.

Hello Pascal, I started with a clean install of Kubuntu Feisty from the
Live CD, formatting my existing partitions. When the printer was not
detected or listed, I looked at the Kubuntu documenation which suggested
going to LinuxPrinting.org
It was here I found my printer with the gutenprint

I have a similar problem with my Espon Stylus Photo 895. I have used for
years on Mandrake/Mandriva so I was surprised when Kubuntu did not list
it. I use the nearest model, 870 and that at least worked. I then
installed ubuntu-desktop and logged into that. The gnome print manager
auto detected

Hydrogen had no apparent problem.
This error appeared on the desktop crasg handler the next time Kubuntu was
booted up.
