i tested by editing /etc/default/grub
I removed quiet splash from GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash
and i still only get the purple line across the top of screen

Hello , i tried to add a keyboard layout .. i used it then after a
period of time it disappeared .
in Keyboard Preferences / layouts tab it's showing as been Add . so i
had to remove it and Add it again .
