I am unable to reproduce this issue on a 1420n, using Rhythmbox to play
ogg files. I suspend and hibernate while playing a song and after
pausing. After resuming, sound level is normal (same level as before
going into S3/S4) and does not go up. I've only tried a few times, so
not sure if I need to

know if this driver has been ported to nvidia-glx-new. You can always
use envy to install the driver.

For the record, I'm not using vmware, I'm installing directly on a
system, though this problem doesn't seem to depend on whether the system
is a vm or not.

The custom l-b-m v50 was not tested or qualified on the XPS 1530, and
even though I suspect the 1530 is highly leveraged off the XPS 1330
(where it was tested and it does work), it's very possible this fix may
not work on the 1530.
