Debian. Over the past 5 years I've packed a number of Ruby projects
(such as Chef and its dependencies) for Debian and Ubuntu. I guess

template, /etc/init.d/rsyslog is an init script. In Ubuntu 10.04 or
12.04, /etc/init.d/rsyslog was a symbolic link to /lib/init/upstart-job.

When my karmic system boots, I get this message on the console:
