Btw. debian got a bug report for this problem years ago

and thought it was fixed, but it isn't.
I just checked that their problem is still there and opened a new bug:

The debian bug report 265265 says it was fixed seven years ago in
fp-compiler_1.9.4-5.
I tested today in debian 6.0 with fp-compiler_2.4.0-2 and binutils was missing.
So either it takes more than seven years to get this into stable, or the same
bug is back.

I don't understand how this explains why the same info is updated in one
variant of the manual, but not in the other. For me this looks like an
automatic script has failed, not like somebody chose which bugs to fix
for which release. Please note I didn't say that not all errors were
