If you run apt-get source linux-source-2.6.20 it will download and
unpack the latest copy of the source. apt-get build-dep linux-
source-2.6.20 will fetch all the corresponding build-dependencies of
the source package. Run apt-get install build-essential dpkg-dev

I think this is due to the Madwifi problem that was fixed in a recent
l-r-m upload, and should be fixed in herd5. I'm going to close as fix
committed (the symptoms you describe are identical to ones observed in
testing.)

The problem is such that even if the kernel and kvm are only upgraded at
the same time, kvm will be broken until you reboot into the new
kernel... There isn't anything we can do about this until we freeze, so

What about modprobe -r the module, and then reloading it? Does that help
at all? Unfortunately this might just be bad hardware, or a bad driver.
r8139 is a rather old driver, so it's more likely that your hardware
just sporadically fails.

Could you attach a dmesg from a succesful boot up into Mandriva?
Building this driver into the kernel isn't an option, since it would
require us moving the whole of the SCSI stack into the kernel.
