I'm not sure if this will help, but the only thing you didn't mention
was changing the group and user of /srv .. If I remember correctly /var/www
is www-data:www-data for group and user.

Except upgrading from 12.04 to 14.04 is one shot. You don't have to go
through the various interim releases. One thing to remember, you have to
uninstall nvidia graphic drivers prior to the upgrade.

I recently had a Seagate SATA 300+gig drive fail. Since it was in
warranty I sent it in and apparently it was affected by bad firmware
that Seagate had updated for that drive. However there' no real way to
check if your drive needs a firmware update unless you contact them. My
drive was sent to
to them personally in every day (to day) uses of their
computer. It leaves a person wondering what is actually at stake with
non-free software. There's no answer to that in the link which I think
would be paramount in understanding the philosophy.

I suffer from this same problem. To help diagnose I started gbonds in
cli. After trying to print the error in terminal was the following:

issues.. bad english, and virus should be plural. Nearly no implies there
are viruses (viri?) but then we state that we don't need a scanner.. There
should be a better way to state that.

I am also a victim of this error. Since I did a fresh install of 8.10
but retained my old /home, I ended up deleting a ton of ev files as well
as the cmeta,index and index.data files. This allowed me to delete the
trash successfully. Hopefully this will be fixed in the near future.
