Hm, I feel a bit stupid now; I retried it and I don't manage to produce
the kernel oops anymore. Instead the system boots fine, but it seems
that additional ENTER presses help the system to go further. It is a bit
poking in the dark since the screen remains dark at this point.

without the compilation log, I fear there is nothing we can do. We
should really look into adding an apport hook into our emacs packages so
that these compilation logs are automatically attached, though.
In order to not confuse future bug reporters, I'm marking this bug as

the code that print outs these temporary files is implemented directly
in the emacs22/emacs23/emacs-snapshot postinst scripts. All postinst
scripts must be fixed seperately.

This won't happen before the next ffmpeg release. Unfortunately there is
no schedule for that.
However I'm considering packaging a snapshot of ffmpeg in a seperate
package. I'm still not sure on the defaults, though, probably I'll track
astrange's ffmpeg-mt git branch, though.

btw, the svn number is correct, however it refers to the 0.5 branch,
not trunk.
