I attempted to upgrade my tower from 13.04 - 13.10 via the GUI
and afterwards the command line but no success. My machine
has an SSD for the boot drive and /tmp pointed to real RAM.
The GUI downloads the 2-files in the very beginning and then brings
up some error message.

I have been having this issue on other distributions as well since
kernel 3.2, and I have tried every release up to 3.6.2. The issue still

I don't have two printer descriptions and I am using
the same driver he describe it appears.
So far the only thing that speeds it up a bit is to select
the Gutenprint driver from the list which reduces the
resolution and darkness of the print a lot but
I trying to help 3 people with the identical issue. One of them being
myself.
Printing large pdf files and also some web sites is painfully slow to
various brand and model laser printers.
When I try printing from (ugh) windows7 it is fast.
The laser printer LED shows data being spooled to it and
solved:

apt-get remove network-manager
which removed network-manager and network-manager-gnome and some kde
stuff -- plasma-widget-networkmanagement knm-runtime libc-bin
apt-get install network-manager
which installed
Changing the runlevels in sysv does nothing.

1. Open Home folder
2. Right click on problem folder
3 Choose Open With
4. Choose Other Application...
5. Make sure remember this application for folder files is clicked

I had an old friend call who had his MBR fail so he couldn't boot.
He had no MS floppy and no CD/DVD media for MS to use the
Recovery option. Here is how I fixed it for him. He is in Indiana.
I had him come up on Ubuntu 10.04 Live CD.

insert paragraph numbers, the auto feature continues to overide manual

I think I've accidentally purged the configuration of the config server.
It can't update /var/lib/gdm/.ICEauthority because the folder and the
file doesn't exist. I only have a .ICEauthority in my home folder.

The persistant problem since Karmic seems to be partially solved by
reseting puleaudio by moving the puleaudio config files
rm -r ~/.pulse
But in Lucid it this fix failed and it failed to see my hardware. Had to
sudo killall pulseaudio.
If I open pavu volume control, I can see various options
This driver in Lucid generally works except for Skype.
