I am using badblocks to check a hdd that I salvaged from an older
machine that I got, I assume the hdd is still good, but I want to make
sure and I also want to clear all old data from it.
I am using this command line:
# badblocks -c 4096 -b 4096 -o badblocks.txt
Trusty amd64. Two disks to build a raid1 device. Then an lvm2 on top of that. I
am affected too.

I am trying to fsck an image of a ntfs partition using fsck on the
command line.
My understanding is that fsck should call fsck.ntfs, but there is no
fsck.ntfs on my system, just ntfsck from the ntfs-3g package:

Sorry, I don't have that Dell Latitude D600 around anymore. Last time I used it
it was with LMDE inux Mint Debian about a year ago. Then it was running stable.
Since the cpu on that D600 does not support pae it won't run most stock
kernels anymore, so debian is the only distro that would still

I have two different laptops with 10.10 installed:
1. New laptop is amd64
2. Old laptop is i386
Putting the FQDN of vpn.ipredator.se in the gateway field of network-
manager-pptp works on the second laptop, which is i386. It does not work
on the first one. Otherwise the network configurations
It works now with 10.10 i386 on my Dell D600.
I don't have a 10.04 installation on the D600 anymore to test for this
bug in Lucid.
The D600 does not have a video source/webcam.

The pptp connection works reliably if I enter one single of the many ip
addresses of the ipredator vpn gateway instead of the dns name.
vpn.ipredator.se resolves to quite a lot of ip addresses. So either
network-manager-pptp has a general bug with the dns resolver, or it has

I have since upgraded to 10.04, both 64 and 32 bit. I haven't noticed the
behaviour I described above since then. The mc in 10.04 really copies as fast
as cp on the command line.
Regarding the filesystem type: I have all my external drives formated
with ext3 and still mc on Ubuntu 8.04 used

I can confirm this bug on 10.04 LTS fully updated as of today.
I must say that it is really a snafu to have a server without any
printers available via samba to clients when it boots.

/usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/radeon_drv.so, and that file belongs to the
