Sorry for the spamminess of my posting, but I discovered that the
problem wasn't fixed.
Apparently, the upgrade obliterated my old /etc/samba/smb.conf file.
When I restored the smb.conf file from backup, my settings were back,
including my Windows network as well as my shared printer.
So this is
upstream has stabilized the name of the executable now, so providing an
update that includes the cifs.upcall helper instead of cifs.spnego just
waits on me having the cycles available to do it.

To follow-up regarding the comment from Steve on 2008-08-15, it does
work now indeed. Basically, it is entirely my fault for not configuring
the Samba server for Kerberos authentication. For the record, you need
to set the "use kerberos keytab" and "realm" options of smb.conf. Duh.

Vista laptop connecting to samba share on Hardy. Have has the same
problem but fixed when I installed SP1. So looks like it's a Vista bug
that's now fixed.

I updated openvpn to the rc9. The first try it did the same thing as before.
But now it works. So, updating to openvpn 2.1~rc9 seems to fix the issue.

It seems that my Virtualbox folder share was removed on install. I
downloaded Gsambad, then added the share that had gone missing, even
though Nautilus showed it as a share.
Gsambad also told me that it couldn't find smb.conf.
After that I reinstalled nautilus-share.
Problem solved, high fives
Will do after the alpha is released.

I discovered that my problem was indeed different. While experimenting with
various settings, I had accidentally left "System setting" as checked. When
clearing that checkmark, my connection starts working.
Why does this affect the connection? If I understood correctly, this
