I will keep trying to get it to work I do not want to have to buy another
sound card.

The message window in qjackctl shows:
cannot continue execution of the processing graph (Broken pipe)
as the last 100+ messages then qjackctl is either hung or just disappears.
This typically happens after a recording session is Ardour that is stopped.

Yes, just remember also route QSynth out to the speakers/soundcard, not
just in the Rosegarden.

I'm trying to use Fluidsynth DSSI plugin in Rosegarden (on Ubuntu
Studio 8.04) to record some midi tracks, using my midi keyboard. I
'virtually' connect the soundcard midi (TASCAM 122) in patchage to the
midi recording input in Rosegarden and start recording on rosegarden,
