I've seen this in MOTU's Digital Performer. What they do is to record the
audio to the same file but dynamically create regions and stack them for
every new loop iteration.
I don't know if this means multiple independent time lines for ardour's
implementation, but I think is a good feature to have

What you are explaining would involve multiple independent time lines. This
is a feature I have not seen on any audio editor on any platform. The way
this is normally done is to duplicate the loop along one track for however
long you want it to loop and then record linearly.

I don't know if it's possible, but I can't figure out how to do it either.
This job is really easy in Rosegarden. Any segment of any ty
Hi all. Does anyone know if it's possible in Ardour to play a loop in
one track, while recording another track? Obviously, I would want the
recording track to move forward linearly - at the moment, I can get
Ardour to loop all the tracks or none of them, but I can't get it to
loop one track but
ha ha yeah i agree on the soundcard. it is a laptop so i did not

I think you should be able to do it with a simple, pci or embedded card...
Do you have software monitoring setup properly in Ardour? ->Hardware
monitoring instead of software will cause you not to hear anything...
BTW, aounds like your soundcard is junk... :-)

Any mixer support for the yamaha DM series in the future? DM1000 or
2000 or maybe the O1V or O2R stuff?

Thanks for the info. I am still having problems I think. I do not have
near as many options with the mixer for my card. I am guessing that is
because of the type of card. I may need to go ahead and look at a usb
card or something? I would like to get this fixed but I may not know
enough about what

I appreciate all the response to my problem. I believe like someone
has told me that my problem is not with Ardour. I'm not ev
Sounds like Jack.
First, make sure you set the record source properly in something like QMix.
(Ithink its called that).
Then make sure Jack's configured properly.
Most likely, you need to select proper input w/ qMix or some mixer app. That
should fix it.

Are you getting sound into ardour? Could you hear the mic with monitpring

Perhaps you just don't know how to start the recording?

I'd make sure that you can get Jack routing audio with a simpler application
to rule out any Ardour configuration issues. Try routing your mic input to
Creox or JackRack and back out to make sure that the basic stuff is
functioning properly..

Hi, I am new to Ubuntu-Studio. I used Ardour with mandriva on my
desktop. I have a Gateway laptop, with Ubuntu-Studio 7.10. When I
start Jack it appears to be working, but nothing happens with
something plugged into the mic input. When I press Record with ardour
and have the track set to record, th
