I only noticed this bug now after the final slideshow upload.
Merging this branch now and re-uploading would mean all updated strings
won't be translated in your installer as there won't be another
translation update and the installer slideshow isn't translated by
langpacks.

Hmm, I still haven't got an answer to my question... where can I get that new
unity-greeter to test it on Edubuntu?
The test should just take me a few minutes but I need the package for that, a
PPA would be great or just a binary build for amd64.

Is there a PPA I can use to test that new version of the greeter?
I'm concerned about the changes to the login box and the logo as it's two
things I spent quite a bit of time tweaking (changing our wallpaper) so that it
looks good for Edubuntu.

I just did two test installs:
- one choosing en_US in gfxboot and then choosing zh_CN in the installer,
result was zh_CN.UTF-8
- another choosing zh_CN in gfxboot and then keeping zh_CN in the installer,
result was zh_CN.UTF-8 as well.
This seems to confirm that Chinese installs now work prope
Problem is actually the generated /etc/default/locale
Post-install I got:
LANG="zh_CN"
LANGUAGE="zh_CN:"
Instead of:
LANG="zh_CN.UTF-8"
LANGUAGE="zh_CN:"
Fixing it manually and reopening the session fixes everything.
