I'm on 12.04, and having tons of trouble with Chrome, but not on Ancestry. But I do see that the post you're directed to was published in 2010, so I should think the info was out of date anyway. I don't have the problems in Firefox, so I think the problem is Chrome rather than Ancestry or my OS.

Chrome does occasionally have trouble with ancestry.co.uk (as it does with other forms to varying degrees in my experience) but you shouldn't have to do anything to fix it, and if the instructions are from 2010 then they are very out of date so just ignore them. These things eventually either come
