only selling Windows 7 machines and say installing another OS would
invalidate the hardware guarantee.

I've used Brasero for CD burning until Jaunty - I can't update Brasero
in Jaunty without removing the default CD burner in Nautilus, but I'm a
bit nervous about messing with things that are built in to the release.

I'm finding more and more files that have duplicates - presumably backup
files, as they have a tilde in the file name. For example, index.html
and index.htm~
They don't show in Nautilus, but they do show in dialogue boxes such as
open file, and in programs such as Filezilla.

In Synaptic, you can right-click the package and choose properties -
