I have used a very cheap one with 4 PCs for some time now, and it works
well. It is so cheap though, that there is no brand name on it. I bought
it on ebay. Although it is not a USB type, it has the PS2 connectors and
VGA.
So I do not know if a more expensive one would be better, probably not,
I've been using a Belkin Flip usb KVM switch to share keyboard, monitor
and mouse between my main Ubuntu box and a second box (sometimes it's
one running Ubuntu, sometimes one running Debian).
