I've got a budget of around £90 to spend on a second hand ebook
reader, and I'm looking at bidding on a Sony PRS-300 on eBay. Has
anyone had any good/bad experience with this particular device, and
has anyone had any experiences with using ebook readers on linux (I'm
planning to use calibre)?
I have used the sony ereader touch which I think is the prs-300. Works fine
on ubuntu 9.10 for me :)

I have the PRS-505 which just mounts as a storage device in Ubuntu and
works great with Calibre.
As far as I remember the PRS-300 is a bit skimpy with storage space and,
