When I'm coming from Sacramento I often go this way to beat the traffic:

Anyway, this would work for me. Can't please everyone I guess, especially
in a town as spread out as Sacramento. =( I know I would be saying the exact
same thing as Daniel if a central Sacramento lo

A Ubuntu Hour on Friday it is. perhaps start at lunch time and go into the
late afternoon or however long people can stay depending on when their lunch
is. If this is on friday and people are coming from work it should be in a
central location with free wifi. is pleasant grove suited to handle that

This sounds like the best way to go about it. Find out what everyone wants
and go for it. This is an Ubuntu Hour... you dont really have to do research
and plan it out too much. If it was a
its what the people coming want in a lot of ways.

people, people, people. if a lunch hour is all people can do then thats the
best time for one. If more people can come in the evening, then evening
sounds good as well. Nathan, I will be glad to hold one in the evening if
you can make it also. Lets see if anyone else in the greater Sacramento area

Several years? Sometimes you can get locked into a rationale or mindset
of ingrained thoughts and patterns that could actually stifle growth. Maybe
you have beco

That's great.
I, on the other hand, do have several years of event planning
experience. I raised some concerns because with careful planning and
some real serious, hard thinking about whether or not running an Ubunt
i like the idea of an ubuntu lunch hour, or even a more casual flexible meet
up time, like alternating between evening and lunch, perhaps?
maybe synchronizing on twitter is a viable option.

In spite of it's name, the loco-contacts mailing
Nathan, Have you ever done an Ubuntu Hour at noon or other crowded time? Has
anyone else? Id say experiment and see where it goes. I think Mike is on the
money saying its hard to get people together after hours... especially those
with significant others, or with kids, or have a long drive home. Wi

It sure doesnt hurt to experiment with different times and see what works.
If more than one sole person shows up, Id say its a success! And many times
there will be far more people at a place to eat during lunch time then say
6pm when everyone is out driving. Ive been to Subway, Starbucks, etc at 6

The idea behind Ubuntu Hour is to attract (and create) new Ubuntu
users--basically to be an informal meeting where curious bystanders and
new Ubuntu users can go to learn more.

Who is the target audience?
For me personally it's easier to take a lunch hour [or perhaps take a
longer lunch] for something like this than to do it in the evening. The
constant battle of work time vs. family time, you know. And I have to get
lunch while I'm at work anyway. ;-)

I _may_ be available at lunch tomorrow, but Roseville is a bit far;
"deeper into Sacramento" would be much preferred.

Panera on Pleasant Grove? (Panera seems to be a popular spot for these.)
Where else is good?

I will be hosting a Roseville Ubuntu Hour for people to come and chat about
Ubuntu or any other topic their heart desires. I have locations in mine,
however if people can think of good locations they would like to have the
hour held at. Reply with where you see as a good location or even time such
