I see something similar in Jaunty, attempting to run Oni in Wine. The

That was indeed the key -- I had some other garbage per the ubuntu
forums post. Removing it and enabling tiling now has my ThinkPad
correctly resuming.
So, I can confirm that the Xorg edgers PPA kernel and xorg packages
resolve these issues for me.

Just tried to install the edgers drivers on a live Cd but didn't work.
So far I still need the machine running and do not want to destroy it
yet :-) Maybe it would be better if you just submit the bug upstream.

I have not seen this in Firefox myself, are they the same kind? It seems
only certain GUI widgets are affected; in thunderbird only on the bullet

I was using separate X screen on my nvidia Geforce FX 5950 with my CRT
(1280x1024) and TV (1024x768) since ubuntu 8.04. I set this up with
nvidia-settings.

I can confirm that on both my notebooks (Thinkpad R61 / EeePC 1000h).

I was not able to test my machine with Nvidia 177, but instead I've used
the NV driver for a few days. To my suprise I experienced a few of the
same hangups as well! So the crashes are probably not related to the
Nvidia-driver.

server when ending an ediff session with emacs (emacs22-gtk, version
emacs-22.2-ubuntu2).
To recreate: Open emacs, open two files in separate buffers, type M-x
ediff-buffers, browse changes, then type 'q' to quit the ediff session

Disabling acceleration (Option "NoAccel" "true", in the Device section
of xorg.conf) fixed it for me. I do not appear to have the font
corruption problem anymore. I am using the intel driver with an Intel
82830 CGC.

Meanwhile, I've uploaded the karmic debdiff so we can get some
preliminary testing done on the patch. If that goes well, and if you
can update the changelogs for the older releases, then sruing them into
the earlier patches can be tried.

detailed description in the changelog? For technical folk like us,
knowing it disables Nagle's algorithm is probably sufficient, but for
end users the changelog should describe a) symptoms of the problems it

So as I understand the Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty works fine on your hardware with
Latest trunk Openchrome revision?
The xserver-xorg-video-openchrome package from Karmic should also resolve your
problems.
