The PPA package is actually for Jaunty, so you can try it out on the
Jaunty Desktop CD. Just log out after installing the package so that X
restarts. Please attach the Xorg.0.log you get in Jaunty.

Downgrading xorg to the version in Intrepid seems to solve the problem, however
it lead's to a high cpu load. This is what I did:
* apt-get remove 'xserver-*'
* Replaced 'jaunty' by 'intrepid' in /etc/apt/sources.list
* apt-get update
* apt-get install 'xserver-*'
* Restored original /etc/apt/sour
I ran your patched kernel for quite some time and it was perfectly
stable. I moved X on to xorg-edgers version because I was curious about
a few other bugs...
I've just been looking into going back a few versions and doing the
testing as you suggest. However my .28 kernel is now

I am having the same problem with 9.10Beta. Also under 9.04 and none of
the patches seemed to work. At the moment I'm dualbooting 8.04 for
dualhead, and 9.04 to test and if I feel the need to work on only 1
screen!!

Hi Piotr,
i followed all the steps explained at
https://launchpad.net/~morgwai/+archive/intel-displayport and installed
the packages supporting DisplayPort. I still have no success. I
attached my xorg.log, maybe you can give me a hint.
By the way my Intel Chipset is Q45/Q43 and not G45. I
I ran Jaunty from the install CD, but did not install it, the best
resolution I could get was 1400x1050, 1600x1200 is not even shown in
the list of possible resolutions. I downloaded the package you
mentioned, but am hesitant to install it as it is for Karmic and I
have Hardy on the box and don't w
Sorry to double-post but just realised I lied. :-)
Since the bug was filed against 2.6.28-11 and we've gone around it by
going to .30... what we gonna do about a fix for official Jaunty?
