Another, third, computer with Kubuntu have this problem configurations are:
1. x86_64 9.04 Ubuntu on AMD with Creative USB mouse
2. x86 8.04 Ubuntu on Intel with Logitech PS/2 mouse with PS/2 - USB cable
3. x86_64 9.04 Kubuntu on AMD (fresh install) Toshiba Laptop with unknown OEM
mouse on USB
I've possibly been hit by the same bug... not been able to track it down much
yet. It may be different because the symtoms are different:
Everything starts fine, then inactive applications stop responding to mouse
clicks. Active applications vary, sometimes fine, sometimes they don't work
The bug has re-appeared on Karmic.

We have confirmed that these error messages are benign. They occur just
before a crash commonly simply as they occur at specific points in the
life cycle of the X server. If you are having a real crash it is
highly unlikely to be related to these specific messages. Please file a

netbook, except the crashes are more rare. The crashes are less frequent
when using Ubuntu Standart instead of Extra desktop effects. The

This is so silly - The file /etc/X11/xorg.conf is write protected for a
user and the process doing the update requires that the file ALREADY
exist before the update. So we have to manually remember to create it
before using the nvidia tool.

ATI Radeon Mobility KMS modeset=1 22% slower than vesa
I am also having this problem on an RV250 equipped Dell D600 Laptop.
Tried various tweaks to get performance sorted with tweaks to come.
Still very slow when scrolling webpages. Facebook for example. Shall do
further testing shortly.

I experienced the same behaviour during the last 2 days. Now I did an
aptitude safe-upgrade with the result, that more and more system error
similiar to the ones above show up. I, too use the Intel-driver on an
Lenovo T400 notebook.
Right now I bootet to an Live USB-Stick, without any errors
When I rebooted i got a menu that said it was in low graphics mode, with
4 options, some had to do with troubleshooting, manually edit
configuration, I don't remember the rest. But I can edit xorg.config
file to call the nvidia driver and the menu comes back. You can view the
log file from the
Latest update 20090812 (is this A4?) is worse.
On CD Live boots to black screen, cursor won't move. If I boot recovery
mode I can log in with ssh however continuing boot to black screen
keyboard doesn't work, mouse doesn't work, ssh stops responding.
Updated the hard disk to same level. Boots

upstream bug, which I've just done. Beyond this, work with upstream as
they may suggest or provide patches or branches to test.

Changing the display adapter does seem to help. The T400 has an
additional Radeon card built in, which i enabled in the bios. Using the
radeon driver, i could not observe the errors occuring with the intel
card.
