I just booted the Karmic Alpha 6 live cd to try to reproduce this bug.
Since the live cd does not show the gdm login screen I have no visual
confirmation but Xorg.0.log, xdpyinfo and xrandr all still report a

I have two 64bit kubuntu systems that seem to be experiencing this. One
has nvidia the other has intel. This does not seem to be related to the
nvidia video.

What I see is that after the appropriate idle time, the screen goes

I run Kubuntu Karmic 64 x86 64
With last update the graphic environement are blocked (freeze) , i cannot quit,
use anytask or close process.
The only possibility are CTRL+F2 to have shell.

I think with the new hotplugging in Xorg, you don't technically need an
Xorg.conf, but that having one will override default settings. So I
think this may be a bug in Xorg's handling of the tounchpad.
