Hello I have a gateway solo 9550 with an nvidia geforce 2go and just

For the last week or two I've been getting occasional screen corruption;
I don't use compiz, and its occurring in terminals [it may happen in
browsers etc, but I use a terminal most of the time ;P]. Generally I'll
have just paged

entering xrandr -s 1024x768 to get the wanted resolution on a benq
beamer did not change the 800x600 resolution but resulted in an error
message: Size 1024x768 not found in available modes

Well, 2.1.14-2ubuntu3 is definitely the version of the nv driver package
that we had in karmic beta. Can you show the Xorg.0.log from this
successful run with -2ubuntu3 installed? Is it possible that the non-
free nvidia driver is running instead?

karmic alpha 4's xorg 'nv' driver does not
slangasek on #ubunt-devel suggested I also try using pm-hibernate.
I did the following:
1) restarted X to get rid of existing screen corruption.
2) logged in and made sure there was no corruption.
3) In an xterm ran sudo pm-hibernate
4) let the machine shutdown.

Erik, you are using an old kernel, which had problems to load drm correctly (as
shown in XorgLogOld.txt).
Can you please install the latest kernel (2.6.31-14-generic) and test if you
can still reproduce the problem?

I'm using the Jaunty Intel Integrated Graphics Guide in the Ubuntu
Forums, Optimal Configuration.
I updated to the xserver-xorg-video-intel v. 2.9.0 through the x-swat
PPA, and when I rebooted, I got through the loading screen

reproducible with 'sudo pm-hibernate' instead of 'sudo s2disk'? That will let
us establish whether it should be treated as a driver bug, or if uswsusp is
missing quirk handling that pm-utils knows about
