I found the problem. I was running the 2.6.27-7 kernel (kept over
somehow from my 9.04 install). I installed the grub-pc package (which
uninstalled the older grub package) then I was able to boot the
2.6.31-14 kernel which allowed things to work.

Oh men, trying vesa driver and every thing is fine, it reads edid correctly via
edid. I had booted in single mode and with i915.modeset=0. I will try booting
directly not using kms (i915.modeset=0) and vesa to see how it goes: and it

Same symptoms on Stylistic 4110. Framebuffer driver works, but slow.
Switching to TTY with ctrl-alt-f1 gives a very low resolution screen

To fix this bug run, in a terminal:
sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/amdccclesu.desktop
Then, in gedit, replace "amdxdg-su -c amdcccle" with "gksudo amdcccle".
This should be the default, instead of a command that doesn't even
exist.

After the video mode tests (which seemed to work, but didn't really make
any indication of what mode was being tested), the mouse pointer
disappeared. The mouse still seems to work, but there is not curser to
tell where it is now.
Prob
I can confirm that with final version the computer doesn't wakeup (keyboard is
unresponsive) with the same quirks.
I will try with KMS to see if it's better.

Everything worked fine in jaunty.
Tried downgrading the wacom and xserver-input-wacom to jaunty version - no
effect.
Stylus is extremely slow and lags.

Quadro NVS 140M.
This finally made Suspend to RAM work, which before only left me with a black
