khenning, if you using Karmic and the nvidia 185 driver try changing to
either 173 or (via a ppa) 190. The 185 driver appears to be rather
buggy and crashes the eternal lands client nine times out of ten. The
other drivers work perfectly.

Cairo/Gdk shapes not visible on Intel gpu
The package from karmic repository works better that the package. The
computer often seems to freeze on resume with the package whereas it
always resume flickering but responsive without the package.

In continuation of my post #20 above, I think that my computer is using the
radeon, not ati driver.
I'm running karmic with all updates installed. An older version of
xserver-xorg-video-radeon might work?
