OK. Did it. Output is completely distorted. Screen updates are not done while scrolling. Typing this blindly most of the time, because characters are not drawn --- only the cursor is moving. i have to minimize the windows, then restore it again to have a look at what I where typing...

This has nothing to do with closed source drivers. This bug only occurs with Compiz enables, which the Nouveau drivers do not support, so they are an invalid test case. As stated before in this bug numerous times, this worked fine in 8.10 with all closed source drivers that supported Compiz.

Very strange, now I have reinstalled updates from xorg-edgers again and indeed found slight improvement of the performance! Maybe thanks to the newer version of mesa. Synaptic says mesa is 7.8.0 now (was 1.6.0), Intel driver is 2.10.0 (was 2.9.0), xserver-xorg-core is 1.6.5 (was 1.6.4).
