I removed "Safe graphics mode" as the xforcevesa option no longer had
any effect anyway, and wew're trying to simplify the main menu. You can
add 'nomodeset' from the F6 "Other Options" menu at CD boot time, which
may help you; that was the only remaining effective part of "Safe
graphics mode".

removing the swfdec-mozilla package (disabling in Firefox is not enough)

This bug is already fixed in KMS driver. If Lucid enables KMS by
default the problem will be fixed.

This seems like much more than a wish-list level problem. Many home
computers are used by more than one person, and with this bug, the
usability of Ubuntu is quite diminished.
This will be a problem especially with Lucid if my understanding that
the radeonhd driver is being removed is correct.

Btw , The Ibus bug affects all users and the default system preferences menu
uses the term "Ibus preferences" which is a design flaw. None of the
