As per my last comment, closing this bug as out of date; we're focusing on -evdev for touch displays now, so if evdev does not support that device, a bug report should be filed against -evdev (or really, against the kernel, since the X evdev driver is just a reflection of the kernel evdev support.)

i can reproduce it fairly well by draining the battery as low as it goes until the laptop auto-suspends (all powersaving features enabled), plugging it in and resuming. This is with the 195.36.03 drivers, but as the issue seems to effect all of the recent driver versions it shouldnt matter much.
