The above happened while the usbtouchscreen module was blacklisted (this was
needed for the eGalax module). If I let the usbtouchscreen module load, the
touchscreen is configured as a touchscreen.
But 'xinput list-props' shows only two axis labels (Abs X and Abs Y), and only
part of the touches
Unfortunately it has came back after a reboot, and i can't explain it.

Lucid Alpha3 live cd failing to boot properly, monitor powers off during boot.
This has happened to me as well. Installing 9.10 onto Dell Optiplex
GX260. LiveCD was fine. Installation went fine. Boot up after
installation hung on blank screen. Googled for instructions, removed
compiz, still didn't boot properly. Had to boot with F3. Then everything
looks ok. But recently
I apologize for being inactive but I hadn't checked my old email address
in a while due to it being overrun with subscription spam. I started
using the beta of windows 7 in February and have stuck with it since so
I haven't been able to check this issue on my laptop. Any Linux

another update: The tearing disapears when I attach a monitor to my
notebook and activate a large virtual desktop. With normal desktop the
tearing is still there.

I get these i915 GPU hung messages too with Lucid Beta 1 on a i845G card, but
not sure if it's the same bug.
The last time was a complete freeze which necessitated a hard shut down.
I don't know that much but am willing to help test if someone lists what
I need to do.

My xserver is restarting approximately 90% consistently whenever I try
to enter text in the firefox built-in search box.
The effect is the same as though I'd killed the xserver with
Ctrl+Alt+Bkspc.

This is probably the same problem I'm experiencing. With the Lucid beta
1 AMD64 desktop install CD, on a desktop with an NVIDIA graphics card
and two monitors hooked up, the boot process will hang on the Ubuntu
logo screen unless I unplug the second monitor.

outside of Xorg and not in Karmic livecd. sudo lshw -c video corrupts
the display every time.
