I've retested in Lucid. My display now reappears after opening my laptop
screen.
However, the mouse pointer is not visible though I can still click on

Given that it only reproduces when suspending using the menu, I think
it's not an X.org bug. My guess is something in the power management
stuff is hiding the mouse but not re-enabling it on resume. I'm not

This is not a bug, but the expected behaviour; in almost all cases X no
longer requires an xorg.conf. dpkg-reconfigure no longer creates an
xorg.conf, so it doesn't ask any questions.
If you want to create a basic xorg.conf you can use “sudo X -configure”,
which will write out an xorg.conf matchi
