I got hold of a DVI-D cable and tried it with nouveau, KMS enabled and
NO xorg.conf (i.e. using the EDID). The screen came up perfectly at
2048x1...@60.
I need to compare the drm kernel xorg log messages for the two best
cases (VGA and DVI) to see whether I can find a significant difference.

It's been a couple of days now.
Every time I leave the laptop running with the lid closed for a longer
period of time (e.g. ~ 30 minutes), something changes the video mode to
1024x768 when I open it.
Every time I close the lid and open it within a couple of minutes, the

@icosena: make sure you don't have an old version of libGL laying around
in /usr/lib. In Ubuntu Lucid there should be no /usr/lib/libGL.so*. If
you have any version of libGL left there, try removing it (keep a backup
just in case) and see if the problem goes away.

Hi, the bug is not present in my installation of Lucid. So, in my Intel
Corporation 82915G/GV/910GL Integrated Graphics, it has been solved. I
worked with the hardware from the Lucid release day to this day. For me,

I see the performance regression with the rv280 (Radeon 9200 PRO)
graphics card. Disabling KMS does work around the problem, with the odd
drawback that the text on drop-down menus for the non-QT apps I use in

pidgin, for example)

First of all I have to say that I'm *sure* my problem is same as the
problem original reporter has. We have almost the same hardware and logs
show the same problem.
Anyway, the bug is still present in Lucid Final LiveCD. agpgart,
Bug confirmed in the Netbook Remix 10.04 (Lucid) release. Taps are still
1-2-3 instead of 1-3-2, and I don't see any configuration options in the
Mouse preferences panel to change it.

Done a little more testing, and it is only the NoScript icon that causes
the crash. I can click on other parts of the status bar fine. Blank
parts are fine. I also have icons for the GreaseMonkey and
AutoHideStatusbar extensions, and left or right clicking on them works

I have attached a boot log (dmesg) when system fails to boot properly.
As can be clearly seen, agpgart-amd64 is loaded after the drm and radeon
modules, too late infact, and system either hangs or drops to command
line. If you compare this boot log to the boot log I attached earlier

I'm having the same problem with an E6510 with the NVIDIA NVS 3100M. I'm
glad to provide any uselful diagnostics. I tried installing a clean
10.04 as well as an upgrade from 9.10 (9.10 displayed fine), but after
upgrade no display.

Today I finally have given up. I went to the local PC store and got a
new Graphic Card. It's already installed and everything works as
expected. I hope we could at least verify the patch you have written

I can also confirm that this workaround that Id2ndR posted does work
in Lucid. What I did, until this bug is fixed, is created a bash script
that runs on startup that executes that command. It's a horrible waste
of CPU cycles... but hey, the screen isn't flickering.
