Pretty sure that's how gnome-terminal is configured to work by default
now. Just change the profile background to solid.

I have now fixed this problem for me.
Looking at what happens I believe the problem is the Xinerama is
designed for stitching multiple monitors together and so is not very
good at stitching together monitors which have already been stitched
together.

NiñoScript's solution works for me too. I had to do both RCTL = 134;
and RWIN = 105; to remap my right Command button as Ctrl; if I don't

On the whole, my computer seems stable enough. It did freeze once using
BZFlag, an arcade tank game. Ctrl-Alt-F1, Ctrl-Alt-F7, Ctrl-Alt-Del all

This has occurred numerous times over the past 2 days after doing an
apt-get dist-upgrade. Seems to only occur when the screensaver/power
management kicks in, i.e. I step away from the machine while logged in
and return to find X has crashed and the user login screen is up.

hi,
i tried Lucid lynx x64 on a thinkpad T410.
the display worked well while using the default installation.
but when nvidia drivers following packages were installed
(nvidia-173-modaliases, nvidia-common) for the graphic card.
after this the
Bryce, the lucid tag you added seems wrong, is that some script needed
an update?

Once this bug occurs, it is readily reproducible (or at least I think
this is a reproduction case).
On my system, once X server wedges I can login to the machine via ssh
and kill -9 the X server process. A new process starts, and
immediately throws the same stack traceback.
