I tried to use Xev to retrieve the keysym of keyboard's hotkeys. My
laptop is a Compaq Presario C765EL.
When I use xev and type Fn+F5 this key isn'r recognized.

Partially solved: i completely removed everything and just reinstalled, for
some unknown reason it was still loading the old driver.
However, i've completely lost v-sync, be it xvideo textures, compiz or
everything else, it just doesn't sync anymore: the new driver completely
resolves the font

I have created an additional user, shutdown, and rebooted the machine.
The resulting desktop's contents is much reduced (as expected) - connected to

It's exactly as you describe it. It's now possible for me to use Unity
on my laptop with the ATI Radeon graphics card (+ radeon driver) in
question. There are no show-stopper rendering issues left, but just
minor issues that would prevent Ubuntu 10.10 from being the perfect 10.

handling for HDMI. If you are not using DVI or HDMI to hook up your

The author of the patch cautions that such a change my expose other problems
