Hi, today I tried to switch to Unity 2D. You should know it solves many
problems and it's worth it. I am now using Unity 2D with compiz and only
issues I have experienced so far are, that if I want to access appmenu
(Global menu) of an application in the bottom screen, I need to move it
to the top.
Upstream has closed the bug as fixed by removing the 3d pipeline for
core rendering (855ced5a4eb67e287001ae22cb6489639c548cfa) - this is a
~300 line patch which mostly deletes a bunch of code. It's unclear to
me how safe this is, so not certain if this could be considered SRU-
worthy.

I have a ThinkPad X220T (convertible tablet) which has Intel graphics
as well. I have the same issue when I rotate using xrandr manually, or
with the screen resolution applet. The area of screen which is "blank"
is still usable by the dock and menubar, but does not seem to have
rotated properly.
I have updated to natty narwhal, and now crystalcursors don't work at
all. I went from having a lefthanded pointer half the time to not having
it at all.

problem here is Unity, some other library, or the NVIDIA drivers. I'm trying to
use Blender on my dual boot HP notebook, and noticed that the Nouveau drivers
work better in two main ways:
- Unity 3D works

work for me, either. To install the 275* drivers you have to get rid of
the Ubuntu installed nvidia-current package. I used dpkg -P nvidia-

trouble. Running around the mouse will sometimes warp the camera down, making
jump and run parts great fun.

me. But I've given up now and installed the proprietary ATI graphics
drivers. That fixed it for me. At least I haven't encountered any
problems during the last 10 or so startups. It still takes pretty long

hello, thanks for the answer. I can use the classic desktop. it's when I
try to get a text console (with alt+Fx) that everything goes blank (with
random colors and lines too), and turning on compositing or unity fails.
