Uninstall the PPA (using ppa-purge or similar), and then update to latest to get the mesa update I mentioned. Then you should be able to launch the game and test if it still hangs. Regarding the PPA, you'd need to ssh in and gather the gpu error file (/sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_error_state)
