Everything still works, only the touchpad is a bit over-sensitive
(pointer jitters even before touching it), so the touchpad is hard to
use.

I have a fix.
It turns out that xdm is so fast when initializing (thanks to it being
lightweight + the Plymouth/DRM/kernel mode-setting stack) that it seems
to expose a bug in that stack when tty7 (xdm) is initialized before
tty1-tty6 (getty). This is why this bug is only seen by people using xdm
The bug is still there! Hope my empirical way of going around it would
help the developers to correct the bug.

The cursor seems to get worse. Where a few months ago I had a cursor that

Chase, that's not likely, mark said that the g-s-d keybinding to turn
the touchpad on and off was working but that didn't restore the
cursor, xinput also indicated that the touchpad is activated when the

post-release driver)
the post-release driver gave the same error. when I was on the 3.0.0-12 kernel

On 64-bit Oneiric
sudo apt-get install --reinstall libgl1-mesa-glx
did help after removing fglrx , now I'm able to run gnome-shell again
without top panel being corrupted.

I updated from 10.04 to 11.10 a few hours ago (fresh install of 10.04,
update to 10.10, 11.04 and then 11.10) and now I can't log into my
account any longer. I'm entering the correct password for my account,
