From the logs and configuration, this appears to be an issue with
uvesafb and the nvidia driver not playing nicely on your system (or
maybe just uvesafb not playing nicely on its own). Since as you've
mentioned on IRC you also don't get any console output either, this is
not a plymouth problem
Can confirm that fix does absolutely nothing for the touchpad on my asus
u52f. two finger right click works fine, 3 finger does absolutely
nothing whether I am in unity or gnome-shell. This is totally
unacceptable behavior.

Figured it out... Here's the real solution, hope this helps some of the
many looking for a solution.
Step one. Do either A OR B
-A. During a fresh install of Ubuntu, you will be asked if you want to
install restricted drivers. Make sure you are connected
Thewhole userinterface was freezing after starting aurora.
Currently I am not able to reproduce, so I assume it is fixed.

Works again after installing the final version of 11.10 from CD.
