here's what I did to get my 12.10 work:
1. purge fglrx* radeon*
2. add PPA of xorg-edgers, and "sudo apt-get update & apt-get dist-upgrade &
apt-get upgrade"
after reboot, make sure the intel graphic card is working (there should be no
error in Xorg.0.log)
3. download deb files from Nick
The fix: sudo rm /usr/share/doc/libdrm2/changelog.Debian.gz, did not
work for me!

I have this problem, have never heard of multi-head/multi-seat but the
problem arose a while after upgrading to 12.10. Most of this discussion
is way over my head, but I would very much like to resolve this issue

Although this patch makes the situation much better, it looks like a

after several days of using a laptop with ~10 suspensions per day.

Hard to read the backtrace without symbols, but please try to find a
reproducible test-case. The number of fingers on the touchpad at suspend
time vs at resume time is almost certainly the trigger for this, but I
haven't found a reliable trigger yet.

I beg to differ on the "fixed in Oneiric". I am seeing the issue in
Precise Penguin on another machine of mine. Although the behavior is not
exactly the same, it is very similar.
The Precise Penguin machine is setup with a Windows XP Virtual Machine
using Virtualbox and also has dual monitors. The

Hello all, I used to see very similar behaviour on my Sandy Bridge box.
Interestingly I'm also using an Asrock Board (H67M-GE). That indicates
that it might be a hardware issue. I flashed the latest BIOS version
provided bei Asrock (V 2.10, used to have 1.40 or 1.50 before, don't
remember exactly)

intel-video from xorg-edgers PPA works well too (kernel 3.7.0, etc..
whole PPA), so the only crashing intel-video driver is from Nick's PPA.
I thought only some removal of obsolete code was reverted on that one,
so how comes it doesn't work? :)

Ubuntu 12.10 on sdb boots fine, but no X program will start. Switching
to the VESA driver allows XFCE to run on, otherwise the graphical
