It's been suggested we have an incorrect stride value for scanout
buffers (even when they're not being scanned out). That would certainly
agree with the screenshot in comment #5. So I think a fix is required
via mir_surface_get_current_buffer() ?...
_X_EXPORT int32_t
So, this might be due to differing radeon_surface layouts based on the
RADEON_SURF_SCANOUT flag.
tvoss can apparently reproduce this, and it goes away when he *doesn't*
add the SCANOUT flag to the gbm bo in Mir¹. XMir never sets
RADEON_SURF_SCANOUT, so it's plausible that this is the issue.

One of the recent updates has changed the situation on my machine to the better
:-)
Dock and Undock events are working again
Also Plug and Unplug events are working again
Only remaining regression is that Power On/Off events of the external
monitor are not recognised.

This is a Compiz issue - it doesn't seem to be related to my video
drivers at all. Running 12.04LTS on HP 8570w (Nvidia K1000 - just in
case there's a pattern), this also happened on my last HP 8560w (also
nvidia). However - this problem seems to appear relatively randomly,

For those who did not install updates, there is a workaround I found:
When you get to a picture similar to the one attached, press any key.
Then select your language. Afterwards, press F6. Press Esc. In the text:
... quiet splash --
